A Chelsea fan sparked outrage on social media after naming nine players he would sell to fund a’real rebuild’ under manager Graham Potter.
The Blues’ season has been a nightmare, and it got even worse on Sunday evening when they were thrashed 4-0 by Manchester City in the FA Cup.
Potter was appointed in September after Thomas Tuchel was fired, but he has had a difficult start at Stamford Bridge.
Todd Boehly, the owner of Chelsea, has not refused to spend money. They spent £278 million on players this summer, including David Datro Fofana, Andrey Santos, and Benoit Badiashile.
What cannot be denied is that the Chelsea squad is overcrowded. Years of mismanagement were thought to have culminated in a team comprised of players desired by several managers.
Chelsea are currently tenth in the Premier League, have exited both cup competitions, and are unlikely to finish in the top four. The season is already a shambles.
Looked at Chelsea’s squad and came up with nine players he’d consider selling to give Potter a fresh start. Some of his choices are highly contentious.
“Chelsea could sell 9 of my players and begin the real rebuilding process. These prices would net us £230 million in total, possibly more. In the mentions of any player, we can have a healthy debate.”
Summer signings Kalidou Koulibaly, Raheem Sterling, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are among the nine players named, along with Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz, and Mason Mount.
