With the January transfer window only a few days away from it’s official opening, several clubs are already perusing the market to identify possible reinforcements with Premier League giants, Chelsea now said to be closing in on a deal to sign French superstar and RB Leipzig forward, Christopher Nkuku.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the West London club are close to agreeing a deal with Leipzig over Nkuku who is currently spending time on the sidelines due to injury he sustained few days to the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Opinion: Boehly might consider convincing Nkunku to officially sign for Chelsea in January

Should the Blues close the agreement, then they would have definitely filled the striking void that has proved a major problem at the Stamford Bridge since the departure of Romelu Lukaku who left for Inter Milan in the last summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, the 23 year old is expected to put pen to paper a five year contract with the Graham Potter’s side, starting June 2023.
