Chelsea is set to sign an 18-year-old ‘extremely talented’ Premier League player2 min read
Chelsea are said to be interested in signing Southampton’s Romeo Lavia. Lavia, who is only 18 years old, was one of the Premier League’s surprise players during the first half of the season before the winter break.
Last summer, the young midfielder joined Southampton from Manchester City, hoping to make his first-team debut elsewhere.
He’s an all-action defensive midfielder who quickly established himself in the Saints starting lineup with some impressive league performances. As a result, he has a sizable fan base.
According to journalist Dean Jones, Lavia is currently on Chelsea’s transfer radar.
Dean Jones told reporters about Southampton’s 18-year-old:
Chelsea identified Romeo Lavia as a potential Kante successor, which is why
“This is a player with a lot of potential in the game.” Chelsea are extremely passionate about this.
“Lavia is definitely someone they’re still looking into, and that’s a pitch position that they’re looking to completely overhaul.“
This comes after Chelsea tried and failed to sign Lavia from Southampton on the final day of the summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano. It just goes to show how much of an impact the teenager has had at St Mary’s that he’s on the Blues’ radar.
Lavia, described by Ralph Hasenhuttl as “extremely talented,” is an excellent transfer target for Chelsea.
The youngster has made an easy transition to the Premier League, and his stamina in the center of the park is impressive.
Belgium’s exit from the World Cup this winter should be the final tournament for some of their golden generation, but the country is producing a very talented crop of young players. For example, Lavia must be a rising star due to a senior call-up for Belgium in 2023.
