Chelsea News Today: ccording to journalist Simon Phillips, the club ‘will talk again’ with N’Golo Kante before making a decision on his future.

With Kante’s current Chelsea contract set to expire in June 2023, there has been speculation that he could leave Stamford Bridge in the near future.

Barcelona was making progress on a deal earlier this month, according to Spanish sources, with the Spanish club able to sign him on a pre-contract agreement in January.

There have also been reports that Tottenham manager Antonio Conte remained interested in the transfer back in November, but there has been no movement on that front in recent months.

Phillips’ most recent update

According to Phillips, who was speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the Frenchman’s stay at Stamford Bridge could be extended, with the player himself keen to stay:

The Verdict: Do it?

Due to a hamstring injury suffered in August, the midfielder has only made two Premier League Premier League appearancesPremier League appearances this season, but he has previously demonstrated that he is up there with the best in the defensive role.

Abbie McCarthy of BBC Sport has praised the 53-year-old France international as a ‘unreal player,’ and for good reason, as he has shown remarkable skill in preventing opposition attacks during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Over the last year, he averaged 2.94 tackles per 90 minutes, which puts him in the 88th percentile among his peers, as does his figure of 1.65 interceptions.

Given his age, Graham Potter may be hesitant to sign Kante to a long-term contract, but given his previous success, he deserves at least two more years at the club.
