Chelsea transfer news and rumors, including Benoit Badiashile, Josko Gvardiol, and N’Golo Kante. Your Chelsea transfer roundup for Tuesday, December 27.
Badiashile speaks
Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile is in ‘advanced talks’ with Chelsea about a January move to Stamford Bridge. According to Fabrizio Romano, the 21-year-old Frenchman is negotiating a long-term contract.
There is a need to invest in the backline with Wesley Fofana currently injured and long-term questions surrounding Thiago Silva, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Cesar Azpilicueta.
Josko Gvardiol is another player they are interested in, but his high asking price and stiff competition have made a January deal less likely.
Badiashile appears more attainable at the moment, and his move to London has accelerated in the last week.
Loan to Joao Felix
Atletico Madrid is willing to let Portugal star Joao Felix leave on loan in January, and Chelsea is eager to capitalize on the situation.
Felix, 23, has struggled to hit top form for Atletico Madrid and hasn’t lived up to his potential under Diego Simeone since joining from Benfica for more than £100 million in 2019.
Chelsea have previously considered signing him but could make it a reality in January if they can agree on a price in a possible obligation to buy in the summer.
Al-move Nassr’s in Kante
The midfielder’s contract expires next summer and he hasn’t played since the second league game of the season due to injury, so his future at Chelsea is uncertain.
AL-Nassr are also interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo, with a reported £176 million per year contract ready for the Portugal forward. Kante, the highest-paid player at Stamford Bridge, may be on his way to join him.
