Even if contract extension talks with star player Mason Mount have stalled, a fresh report claims Chelsea has identified two players they could sign soon. During the January transfer window, Chelsea has reportedly shown interest in two players: Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini and Villarreal’s Yeremy Pino.
Mount’s current deal with Chelsea is set to expire in June 2024, so the club is trying to secure his services for at least another year.
The midfield is an area that needs improvement for the west London club, who have struggled so far this season.
As we enter the World Cup break, Chelsea is in eighth place on the table, eight points back of fourth-placed Spurs.
But the study showed that talks for a new contract for Mount have stopped since the two parties are so far apart. Both Pellegrini and Pino have been linked to a move to Chelsea as the club looks to bolster boss Graham Potter’s midfield options.
Pellegrini, who has been outstanding for Roma this season, has been linked with a move to Newcastle United ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

However, Pino has had a shaky season in La Liga, scoring just once in 13 games and failing to record an assist.
