Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel has required for much-needed defensive reinforcements following the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christiansen, as well as the uncertain future of Cesar Azpilicueta. Although Napoli’s defensive beast, Kalidou Koulibaly, has already been signed, there is a feeling that another defender is required for Tuchel’s new look defensive wall.
Chelsea were willing to go all out for Presnel Kimpembe of PSG and Joules Kounde of Sevilla, but their pursuits were a total failure. Kimpembe chose to stay at PSG, while Kounde chose Barcelona over Chelsea.
According to HITC, Chelsea have expanded their defender search to Serie A, with Inter Milan’s Milan Skrinier being the player in question. In their report on Chelsea’s pursuit of Skrinier, HITC claims the Blues are willing to pay up to £42 million for the no-nonsense defender. Chelsea have already discussed Skrinier with transfer market intermediary Paulo Busardo this week. Inter Milan has requested Busardo’s assistance with their summer transfer activities.
Despite the fact that €50 million is a reasonable offer, Chelsea may be forced to increase their offer by £16 million. Notably, Chelsea, like Kounde, will have to compete for Skrinier’s services, as PSG is also interested.
