Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has explained why the club’s major issues this season are under the current manager, Graham Potter.

Souness believes strikers are Chelsea’s main issue this season under Potter.

He stated that Chelsea have lost two strikers in recent months, Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner, and that Potter requires assistance from the club’s board of directors, led by Todd Boehly.

They didn’t cover themselves in glory, Lukaku and Werner, but are they a better team without those two?” Souness said after Chelsea drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest in Sunday’s Premier League match, according to Sky Sports. Is it true that they are a greater goal threat without those two?

“When you look at big football clubs and who makes decisions, at the start, when this new consortium takes over, Petr Cech, Marina Granovskaia, and Thomas Tuchel all leave the club, and Todd Boehly announces himself as new director of football, short term.

“Where is your football thinking if you’ve lost two strikers [Lukaku and Werner] and spend £270 million or more on defenders? Surely, your first priority is to find a striker.

“I believe Graham Potter is in need of assistance. I hope they’ve seated him and he’s taking part in the discussion. ‘What are you looking for?’

Because they lack strikers, that squad isn’t equipped to go out and win big games in a competitive league. Manchester City has a goal difference of 28, Arsenal has a goal difference of 26, and Chelsea has a goal difference of 2. That statistic alone indicates where they require assistance.”
