Jorginho, a Chelsea midfielder, says he would like to extend his contract but that his primary focus is on the club’s return to the Premier League.
The Italian international’s contract expires this summer, and Standard Sport understands that Barcelona is among the clubs interested in signing him.
Further interest from Italian clubs is expected as the 31-year-contract old’s expires, though Chelsea is willing to extend his terms.
Jorginho has made 11 Premier League starts this season and remains a key player under Graham Potter despite a number of changes since Thomas Tuchel’s dismissal.
“Of course I do, I love Chelsea,” Jorginho said when asked if he wanted to stay in west London.
“However, this is something I’m not going to do.”
“Of course, I love Chelsea,” Jorginho said when asked if he wanted to stay in west London.
“However, this is something I’m not going to think about right now.
“I need to think about how to win games. Otherwise, there is a problem.
“I’ll focus game by game and then we’ll see what’s going to happen.
“But my focus is now on Chelsea and winning as many games as possible.”
Chelsea is also expected to win the race to sign Vasco de Gama midfielder Andrey Santos. The 18-year-old has been compared to Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, and the Magpies are reportedly interested in signing him, though a £12 million move to Stamford Bridge appears to be the most likely outcome.
