Chelsea will be in actions for the second time since Graham Potter took over the manager job for Chelsea as they take a short trip to Selhurst to face Crystal Palace this weekend, after two weeks without match due to the death of Queen.
Meanwhile, a lot is being expected from Graham Potter since he took over as Chelsea manager, with his first premier league match as a new coach to take on Crystal Palace.
Chelsea are back this weekend, expecting to get Jude Bellingham at Stamford Bridge in January transfer.
No doubt, The last time Chelsea play under Potter, was a match against Red Bull Salzburg at Stamford Bridge. Ends 1-1.
Graham Potter has a lot of tasks to carry out at Stamford Bridge, to get the club back to life as one of the greatest club with the highest fans in the world of football.
Chelsea have seen two games postponed in the Premier League – a home clash with Liverpool and a trip to Fulham both being called off for reasons related to the Queen’s death.
Now, though, Potter is set for a massively busy month, with October serving up nine games for Chelsea in all competitions. Up first in the Premier League for Potter is a trip to Crystal Palace.
Havertz position change
Chelsea supporters – those who aren’t English – would have been delighted to see Kai Havertz on the scoresheet twice on Monday night. The 23-year-old scored a superb goal from outside of the box, with his second one being a more instinctive-type finish after a mistake from Nick Pope.
Havertz started the game as the one central striker for Germany, but Hansi Flick made the decision to place him deeper in the second-half. The decision proved to be a masterstroke from Flick, with Havertz looking twice the player in the second period.
Over recent times, we’ve seen the former Bayer Leverkusen star play as the centre-forward for Chelsea. He did so in Potter’s only match in charge, where he set up alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a 3-5-2 formation.
The fact that he seems to be shining in a deeper role – see the first 20 minutes or so in Chelsea’s loss to Dinamo Zagreb recently, for example – suggests a position change could be on the way. It’s definitely worth a go, with the likes of Havertz and Mason Mount behind Aubameyang.
Wesley Fofana, who was signed for a whopping £70million (plus add-ons later down the line), was not involved in Potter’s only game in charge so far. The Frenchman now has to come back into the team on the right-hand side of the defensive three.
Cesar Azpilicueta has been in poor form recently and the Spaniard needs to spend some time out of the side. The 33-year-old defender has been a fantastic servant to Chelsea down the years but the recent past has shown signs of his ability deteriorating.
We could see the back-three of Fofana, Thiago Silva (in the middle) and Kalidou Koulibaly (on the left), which, on paper, looks to be Chelsea’s best defensive trio.
N’golo returned to training
On Tuesday, N’Golo Kante is fully back and joined in yesterday training. This is a major boost for Chelsea as they get set to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Although, the international break, N’golo Kante did not meet up with his country for their UEFA Nations League matches due to sn hamstring problem he suffered during the match against Tottenham this season .
Maybe, N’golo Kante will play on Saturday despite recovery from his recent injury problems, Chelsea head coach may let it know with his midfielder formation before the match.
Kante is back to competitive action. Graham Potter should see this as a great important to get the midfielder alongside with Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho.
