After Argentina won the World Cup, Paul Robinson lavished praise on Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez.

The former Tottenham and England number one told Football Insider exclusively that the 22-year-limited old’s game time at club level demonstrates the Etihad’s “ridiculous” squad depth.

On Sunday, Alvarez helped Argentina win the World Cup (18 December).

The forward contributed significantly to Lionel Scaloni’s team, scoring four goals in five appearances.

This season, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has primarily used Alvarez as an impact substitute in the Premier League.

When asked if Alvarez should be given more game time at club level based on his performances at the World Cup, Robinson responded, “Man City’s squad depth is excellent.”

Premier League Manager Who Is Turning Into A Better Tactician Than Pep Guardiola- Opinion

It must be nice to have a World Cup winner as your backup striker. Alvarez possesses exceptional talent. It’s incredible that he doesn’t start every game for his club, but it also shows how good Haaland is.

“Alvarez is a world-class performer. He will not be in a hurry to leave Manchester City, even if he isn’t playing regularly, because he is at a club that is vying for every major trophy.
