According to the Express, Mauricio Pochettino has indicated that he is willing to take over at Chelsea if Graham Potter is fired at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are 10th in the table and have already been eliminated from both domestic cup competitions following their 4-0 defeat to Manchester City.
They’ve only won one of their last eight league games and are as close to relegation as they are to the top four. It’s put even more pressure on Potter to turn things around, just months after he took over as Thomas Tuchel’s surprise replacement.
According to the report, he has the backing of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, who believes Potter is the man to lead the club into the future. However, The Sun reports that Chelsea may reconsider if results do not improve by the end of the month.
In their final three games of the month, the Blues face Fulham, Crystal Palace, and Liverpool. Chelsea will be watched closely to see if they can regain their form.
Pochettino may also be keeping an eye on the West London club. Pochettino is said to be “waiting in the wings” for a phone call from Chelsea if Potter is fired.
The Argentine coach is said to be hesitant because of his ties to Tottenham and their rivalry with Chelsea. However, according to the report, Pochettino is willing to put his allegiances aside in order to take the job at Chelsea.
