Former Liverpool player John Barnes believes Christopher Nkunku made a mistake by leaving Leipzig for Chelsea.
On Saturday, it was widely reported that the Blues had completed the signing of the talented forward from RB Leipzig.
Nkunku was ruled out of Didier Deschamps’ squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar due to a last-minute injury.
In 159 appearances for Leipzig, the 25-year-old has scored 64 goals and provided 51 assists.
Liverpool, Manchester United, and former club PSG were all interested in signing the Frenchman, but Graham Potter’s Blues outbid them all.
However, Barnes believes that Chelsea is not the right fit for Nkunku, warning that the forward may not reach his full potential at Stamford Bridge.

“It’s difficult for younger players to enter a club like Chelsea because they are quite unstable in terms of changing managers,” he explained.
“He has great potential but Chelsea hasn’t been that great the last six months and I would hate to see a young talented player go to a club that is not structured at the moment.
“I don’t believe they have [patience] for young players.”
