According to the Sunday Mirror, PSV coach Ruud van Nistelrooy admits the club is fighting a losing battle to keep Noni Madueke out of Chelsea’s clutches.
The Blues’ initial bid of £30 million was rejected by the Dutch club, and Van Nistelrooy has been pleading with PSV’s director of football Marcel Brands to keep the England U21 international in Holland.
However, Van Nistelrooy has revealed that he is already looking for a replacement for the 20-year-old winger, and Chelsea will get their man if they can come close to PSV’s £40m valuation.
Van Nistelrooy stated:
“It is now a case of looking for a good replacement. It appears that we may lose another key player during the winter transfer window.
I’m sure they want Madueke. I’d prefer not to let him go, but I can’t stop big clubs from showing such strong interest in him.”
Chelsea agreed a huge deal on Saturday for another winger, with Mykhailo Mudryk set to join the club despite being Arsenal’s main January target.
