Rumour: Edouard Mendy declined renew contract extension, raise issues why rejected

A lot have happened since Thomas Tuchel was sacked, as Chelsea are working hard to get quality players in place, under Graham Potter now, just as Edouard Mendy want his long-term contact to be secure his long-term, if not plan to declined the agreed deal.

Meanwhile, the No. 1 goalkeeper for the Blues, is planning to leave according to rumor if issues raised on his new contract extension is not met. The Senegal goalkeeper arrived at Stamford Bridge in September 2020. The 30-year-old paid French club Rennes £22 million when he was signed by the Blues to a five-year deal.

After he establishes himself as the team’s undisputed first-choice goalkeeper, though, Chelsea officials want the player to extend his contract. Mendy was added to the team to compete against Kepa Arrizabalaga, but he soon cemented himself as Fran Lampard’s first option. The France-born goalie has remained Thomas Tuchel’s No. 1 goalie.

His performance this season has drawn criticism, though. He has committed a number of serious mistakes, one of which contributed to Leeds’ defeat. JMB Score

Mendy, who has started each game this season, has received backing from Tuchel. It’s a pretty delicate position in football, in my opinion.

And not everything is only about decision-making and pure quality, according to Tuchel. It’s also about how you feel, including how confident you feel and how occasionally you also need a little luck.

When I first got into the club and you’re trying to assess players really quickly, and Alex in training – quiet lad, really decent lad, low maintenance – I saw him in training and went ‘wow, this child can run.”
