The loss of Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen on a free transfer this summer was slightly obscured by the fact that Antonio Rudiger left too, but missing out on the Dane is a blow, there’s no doubt about it.

I agree that he is a huge loss but not world class, yet.

Maybe he was right to change environment to gain more appreciation at a new club.

The caption called him World Class, but the Evening Standard’s Chelsea correspondent Nizaar Kinsella replied saying that Christensen is “not World Class – yet.”

That definition is so nebulous that we don’t really pay too much attention to it, but there’s no denying that we’re going to be reminded all season by Christensen’s performances what we’re missing out on.

Ok, we’ve signed one good defender, but we will have to find a second one – one at least good as good as Christensen – before we can feel like this summer wasn’t a step back.
