Melanie Leupolz has agreed to a new contract with Chelsea that will keep her at the club until the summer of 2026.
Leupolz is a key member of Chelsea’s squad and a player that manager Emma Hayes was desperate to keep this transfer window.
Hayes has already seen Beth England leave the club to join Tottenham, and the Chelsea manager did not want to see Leupolz leave as well, so the news that she is staying is huge.
‘When I was leaving Bayern, Chelsea was my favorite club and I wanted to join,’ Leupolz said after signing the extension. I was extremely fortunate that everything worked out, and my time here has been unforgettable.
‘I played for the first one and a half years with a great feeling that I’m not done here, which is why I wanted to extend. I want to play more games with the team, to have more chances to win titles, and to win the Champions League.’
‘We are delighted that Melanie has extended her contract after returning from her maternity leave,’ said general manager Paul Green. Melly was instrumental in our success during her first 18 months at the club and will be treated as a new signing when she returns to the squad this month.
“We are excited to see her back in a blue shirt and continue to build on her success in the coming years.”

Leupolz is an excellent player, and the fact that she is staying is huge for the club; he would be greatly missed.
Chelsea fans are fully prepared for this; there will be only a few arrivals in the coming days, but when it comes down to it, keeping key players is critical.
